Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council

Established in 1912, the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council (AEHC) was originally known as the Home Demonstration Clubs.  These groups traveled throughout the state to provide presentations on growing, cooking, and preservation of food.  The AEHC has since broadened its activities to provide education on additional issues that affect families and communities, such as gerontology and health.  To commemorate "100 years of EHC," members in each county have recorded, transcribed, and edited interviews with current or past members of Extension Homemakers or active or retired Extension personnel.  The AEHC has donated this collection of interviews to the David and Barbara Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History.
