Carl M. Collier

Carl Melvin Collier was born in Fayetteville, Washington Country, Arkansas, on September 6, 1942.

Collier was a child when he began working in Collier Drug Store, started by his grandfather in 1917. After high school, he attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy in Little Rock. He graduated from UAMS in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy.

Collier then returned to work at Collier Drug Store in Fayetteville and took over ownership of the business in 1971. At the beginning of 2007, he passed the business to his son, Mel, but continued to work as a pharmacist.

Collier has been a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Fayetteville and active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He received the Eagle Award from Washington Regional Foundation in 2010. Collier was inducted into the Fayetteville Schools Hall of Honor in 2012, and he was named the 2013 Pharmacist of the Year by the Arkansas Pharmacists Association.
