June Glory Biber Freeman was born on June 10, 1928, in Newark, New Jersey.

She earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Chicago and completed two years of graduate work. Afterwards, she moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and became an advocate for the arts. Freeman has worked with the Pine Bluff Junior Auxiliary and the Southeast Arkansas Arts and Science Center. She also wrote Artline, a column that appeared in the Pine Bluff Commercial.

Freeman has served on the boards of the Arkansas Arts Council, the Arkansas Arts Center, the Southeast Arkansas Arts and Science Center, and the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
