Ann Kamps

Ann Kamps was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on October 21, 1950. After graduating from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), she married Wally Kamps and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1984, she volunteered on Governor Clinton’s re-election campaign. In 1985, she was appointed as Special Assistant to Arkansas’ First Lady Hillary Clinton, and later Special Assistant for Early Childhood Programs, where she helped develop the Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY). She served in these roles until 1992. In 1993, Jim Guy Tucker appointed Kamps to serve as the inaugural director of the state’s commission on national community service, a position she held until 1995. From 1995-2003, she served as the director of the Communities in Schools program in Arkansas. In 2004, she took a position as manager of volunteers and visitor services at the Clinton Foundation.
