Susie Whitacre was born in Springfield, Ohio, and attended Miami University, before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas, with her husband in 1985. In 1985, she began working as an assistant to Bob Nash for economic development. She then moved to a position in Governor Clinton’s press office, where she worked until his election as president in 1992. After Clinton moved to the White House, Whitacre stayed in Arkansas, where she helped manage his office in Little Rock.
