Christina Vierra grew up in a large family in Boston, Massachusetts, and began singing in clubs when she was fourteen years old. After attending performances by B.B. King and Howlin' Wolf, Vierra was inspired to explore the blues. She moved to Los Angeles, California, in the 1980s, where she worked as a studio vocalist. In 1988 Vierra released a self-titled album with Warner Bros. Records. After a dispute with Madonna over the rights to the song “Papa Don’t Preach,” Vierra went back to her roots singing the blues. She has since worked with Billy Preston, Ziggy Marley, Parliament Funkadelic, and others. She is a founding member of the band, Mississippi Bigfoot, who released their debut album, Population Unknown, in 2015.
