Ron Helm is a retired educator who lives in Oxford, Arkansas. A distant cousin of Levon Helm, he grew up listening to The Band and eventually came to meet and befriend his relative later in life. A lifelong educator, Helm worked in Arkansas public schools for a number of years before spending 23 years working at Ozarka College, retiring in 2016 as Vice President of Student Services.
