Otis Haschemeyer earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1986 from Binghampton University, an M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Arkansas, and a PhD from the University of Tennessee. Haschemeyer won a prestigious Stegner fellowship to Stanford University. He has been a writing instructor at Stanford University and the University of Oregon. He is the author of multiple works of fiction and non-fiction, including “The Storekeeper” (1998), a non-fiction essay originally published in the Missouri Review. During his time living in Arkansas, Haschemeyer befriended a retired sniper, and published an essay based on the man’s recollection of his time in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Haschemeyer currently resides in Eugene, Oregon.
