On June 8, 2025, former U.S. Senator Mark Pryor was the featured speaker at the Washington County Historical Society’s annual Statehood Day event, which celebrates the anniversary of the establishment of the state of Arkansas on June 15, 1836. Senator Pryor’s talk was titled “Arkansas and the Pryor Legacy,” and reflected on his family’s history of public service to the state. Senator Pryor’s lecture covered his and his father David Pryor’s long tenures in elected office, as well as their shared commitment to community engagement, bipartisanship, and the motto “Arkansas Comes First.”
