The special collections department of the University of Arkansas Libraries and the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism cohosted journalist Roy Reed for a discussion, reading, and signing of his book Looking Back at the Arkansas Gazette: An Oral History. Reed spoke about the "life and death of the oldest newspaper west of the Mississippi," focusing on the Arkansas Gazette's high caliber journalism, stories of Gazette employees such as J. N. Heiskell, Ernie Dumas, Clovis Copeland, and Clyde Dew, and the takeover by Gannett in 1986, of which he was critical. After a reading from the book, Reed took audience questions.
