Andrew Kilgore

Andrew Kilgore was born November 2, 1940, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Kilgore graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, with a degree in philosophy in 1963, and in 1964 he attended Union Theological Seminary in New York City.

In 1965 Kilgore was a minister for a church circuit in Vermont. He served in the Peace Corps in Bengal, India, from 1966 to 1968. On his way back to the United States, Kilgore bought a camera and began his photography career.

In 1971 Kilgore moved to Fayetteville and opened his photography studio. He taught classes in photography for the University of Arkansas from 1973 to 1977. Kilgore relocated his studio to Little Rock in 1981 and then moved back to Fayetteville in 1990.

Kilgore's exhibits include The Fayetteville Townfolk Portfolio Project, We Drew a Circle, Healing Changes, and 100 Photographs by Andrew Kilgore shown at the Walton Arts Center in 2023.

Kilgore received the Governor's Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2023.
