Jewell Murphy Alderson was born in El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas, on January 23, 1915. As a child she witnessed the first wells coming in during the El Dorado oil boom.
Alderson graduated from El Dorado High School and went on to attend Judson College in Marion, Alabama.
She returned to El Dorado, where she remained for the rest of her life. Alderson taught Sunday school for over forty years and was an active member in the El Dorado community. She was a member of the El Dorado Service League and the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. She had two children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jewell Murphy Alderson passed away on May 30, 2012.
