Margaret Moore Whillock was born in Altus, Franklin County, Arkansas, on April 1, 1935.
Whillock graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1953 and earned a bachelor's of science in education from the University of Arkansas in 1957. She taught high school in Springdale and Rogers after graduation.
Over the course of her career, Whillock was the director of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, director of development for the Arkansas Arts Center, and director of corporate and foundation relations at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In 1998, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton appointed Whillock the deputy director of the White House Visitor's Office, where she remained until 2001. Whillock returned to Little Rock and served as executive vice president for Baptist Health Foundation until she retired.
Whillock worked with Betty Bumpers on Peace Links and with Jo Luck for fund-raising for Heifer International. In 2000 Whillock was inducted into the hall of honor for the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation.
