Mickey Dale " Mike " Beebe was born near Amagon , Jackson County, A rkansas, on December 28, 1946. Raised by his mother, h e lived in several states before returning to Arkansas and graduating from Newport High School .
Beebe earned a B.A. in political science from Arkansas State University and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law . Additionally, he served in the United States Army Reserves.
Beebe began practicing law in Searcy in 1972 and was named the Outstanding Trial Lawyer in Arkansas in 1981. Beebe, a Democrat, served twenty years in the Arkansas state senate until he became the attorney general of Arkansas in 2002 . He was elected the 45 th governor of Arkansas in 2006 and reelected in 2010.
Beebe and his wife , Ginger , have three children.
