Earl Hale

Earl Franklin Hale was born in Mulberry, Crawford County, Arkansas, on December 18, 1922.

Hale began working for the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression. In 1942 he was drafted into the US Army and was part of the D-Day landing at Normandy Beach. After the war, Hale worked as a security guard in California. He later returned to Arkansas, where he worked for the United States Post Office and owned a feed store in Mena. Hale moved to Texarkana to become an inspector for the Red River Army Depot from 1966 until his retirement.

Hale has completed several marathons since taking up running at the age of fifty-five.

Hale passed away on December 29, 2017.
