Michael Groth hosts a German radio show on blues and American roots music. In 2016 he attended the King Biscuit Blues Festival as a tourist and was impressed with "how people would build a community here." Groth decided to return in 2017 as a journalist to collect interviews from festival artists and attendees. He became interested in blues music in the era of the Rolling Stones as he followed their musical influences. "There were more media covering that stuff in the sixties and seventies as they are now because it was new, and it was popular."
