Dick Pruitt is the bass player for the Bel Airs, the band he and his brother Dave formed in 1981. Dick draws on a variety of music genres in his songwriting and brings the Bel Airs' own sound to the material of other musicians. “If we put a Bel Airs groove on it, it fits right in our set.” He says they use older instruments and equipment because it sounds good, and "it sounds like what I'm lookin' for." Recently the Bel Airs have been playing shows with blues singer Tracy Nelson. Nelson and the Pruitt brothers have been avid fans of each other’s music for years and have plans to make a record together.
